Veronica Mixon, M.A.

Veronica Mixon is a fourth-year doctoral candidate in the Medical/Clinical Psychology PhD program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She earned her B.S. in Psychology and B.A. in African American Studies with a concentration on Global Health and Justice Studies from UAB in 2021, followed by a master’s degree in Community Psychology with a focus on African/Black Psychology from Florida A&M University and a master’s degree in medical/clinical psychology from UAB. Her therapeutic approach integrates multicultural perspectives, narrative therapy, and psychoanalytic-based practices like reflective journaling, guided imagery, mindfulness, dream analysis, letter writing, values exploration, and culturally grounded, non-Western approaches to create a space for healing.
