Dr. Kusko is an Integrative Behavioral Medicine Service (IBeMS) post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Psychiatry and Neurobiology. He graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with his Ph.D. In Medical/Clinical Psychology in 2025. He has training in Behavioral Sleep Medicine, Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. He utilizes a transdisciplinary approach to therapy that person-centered, trauma-informed, and guided by the bio-psycho-social model. His research focuses on novel treatment approaches to chronic pain conditions that utilize mindfulness-based interventions and characterizing patient risk and resilience profiles. Dr. Kusko offers patient services through the DTTG clinic, UAB primary and specialty care clinics in Gardendale and Hoover, and the UAB Kirklan Nephrology clinic.
